We were contacted by two young guys on a mission: To combine the feeling of a racing flat with the traction of a fully studded trail shoe, making an orienteering shoe with performance to match their commitment and passion for the sport.
Orienteering is an authentic form of trail, or even off trail, running, where what really matters is finding the quickest way between two points.
We receive a lot of suggestions for product development. But we quickly understood that this was something out of the ordinary. The guys, Peter Öberg and Erik Öhlund, were not only top athletes but also had a deep understanding of construction – and a near freakish interest in shoes: Most of us would not dream of setting up a miniature shoe factory in the garage.
So with Icebug’s experience in developing footwear and producing shoes for extreme trail running, we set out together to turn the home built prototypes into a real shoe. After a year of intense work (where already the test samples have won Swedish and Finnish championships) you now hold the result in your hand:
